Pastel is an exciting and versatile medium and is truly hands on. We will work with pastel on sanded paper using different techniques such as layering, blending and stumbling. The rich, vibrant colors are mixed on the paper, not on the palette. We encourage individuality. Each student can express their creativity using personal photos or references. We will also discuss framing tips. We will touch on “going green” in which you will learn to recycle and rescue Wallis paper and create new pastels using small pieces of used pastels. This is an easy technique that has great results. Ruth will provide a great deal of personal attention and share her enthusiasm and love for pastel.
