“Developing a Photographer’s Vision”
(Please RSVP for the lecture as we have a limited amount of space)
This presentation will explore several questions, from David Zapata’s own point of view as a photographer, using examples from his body of work:
1. “As a photographer, what do I see, and when do I see it?”
When does vision happen? The worth of an image, and its possible uses, are not always immediately apparent on first viewing.
2. “What constitutes a style, and does my work have to be confined to one style to be uniquely mine?”
Who am I as an artist? Where have I been, and where am I going? It is a great temptation to emulate the masters, thinking that their work is the pinnacle of my art form. But real art, and real joy, come from allowing you to be yourself.
3. “As a photographer, do I need to confine my work within previous definitions of my art form?”
If photography has traditionally been separate from the other arts, how does it also overlap with them – especially now in the age of digital imaging.
The lecture is free and open to the public; however reservations are required. A reception for the artist will follow the lecture.
