Artist's reception featuring the artwork of Frank and Sean Colson

5-8pm, Friday, Feb. 19, 2010
Historic Edson Keith Mansion at Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

Meet father and son artists Frank and Sean Colson.

Ballroom dance exhibitions by Janis Merluzzo & Daniel Fugazzott.

Music by Michael Royal Trio.

Refreshments will be served.

If you are unable to join us for the Opening night reception on Friday night, February 19th from 5 to 8pm.

The exhibit will be open from Feb. 20th to the 28th. Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and Sunday noon to 4pm. It is FREE and open to the public.
The two Colson's have been creating original sculptures and art for decades: their work covers a continuum of artistic expressions. Frank is recognized globally for a variety of sculptural bronze, clay and fabric forms. His work has been called ‘neo primitive’, and he is recognized uniquely for his masks and horses. Son Sean, creates whimsical sculptures as well as fanciful illustrations for the books he authors. The Book of Love, his latest illustrated work, will be featured along with a collection of playful sculptures. Frank says, “What a gift in life to exhibit high quality art with your son who reveals so much talent.”
Art work will be for sale, and chances will be available to win original pieces of Colson art at the opening reception February 19th. Proceeds will go to support restoration of the historic Phillippi Farm House.

Frank and Sean’s first Father-Son art show was held in Sarasota in 1967 when Sean was 7. The current 2010 exhibition is sponsored in conjunction with Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Department, and will be held in the Edson Keith Mansion.
