Sarasota Artists, I have a project for us, and I would be honored to have you involved. This project represents who we are as people, from whence we have come, and where we go from here.
On Saturday, October 15, we will be installing the Labyrinth of the Unbroken Path at the Art Slam Festival in Bradenton. The journey through the labyrinth is based on a variety of steps throughout various cultures and traditions that somehow synchronicitously align. The basic core is based on the teachings of Joseph Campbell, Stephen Covey, Buddhism, Christianity, and Wiccan, however undercurrents of Wayne Dyer, don Miguel Ruiz, Tarot and more can also come into play as the labyrinth grows deeper.
Between now and then, I am looking for artists to assist in creatively representing the 40 steps that comprise the basic outline. The goal of the actual installation is to have festival attendees bring more life, color, and story to the labyrinth by placing found items where they should be along the path. At the end of the five hour festival, the labyrinth should serve as a tapestry of the human journey.
The following weekend, the installation will make its way to the Rock and Run Festival on South Lido Beach to celebrate recovery. At both events, there will be a silent auction on the individual steps allowing for support of the cause, commission for artist involved, and a circulation on the travelling gallery.
If you would like to find out more and be involved in the process read more on it at InkenSoul.com or contact Steve McAllister at InkenSoul@gmail.com. In order to be included in the Bradenton ArtSlam, contributors must visit the staging area and select a step by October 4th.
