Public invited to meet teachers and learn more about offerings for children and adults
Venice Theatre invites the public to attend an Education Open House on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 10 a.m. to noon. Teachers and theatre staff will be on hand to meet and greet potential students and share information about the variety of classes Venice Theatre has to offer. The open house will take place in the theatre lobby located at 140 W. Tampa Avenue on the island in Venice.
Students of all ages (pre-Kindergarten through adult) will find interesting and fun classes to take at Venice Theatre. New offerings this season include circus arts for all ages, Jazz Dance for adults, “From Shaw to Wilde” and more. As in all semesters, there are a range of beginning, intermediate and advanced acting and musical theatre classes for all ages.
Most classes begin the week of September 10, 2012 and run eight to eleven weeks. Instructors include area professionals Brad Wages, Mary Kelly, Amy Blake, Becky Holahan, Lori Gaddis, Michelle Kasanofsky, Cathleen McClendon, Gladys Varga, Ronald Myroup, Peter Ivanov, Jan Wallace and members of the Venice Theatre Production Staff. Visiting artists from Brazil, Caio Stolai and Milena Costa do Nascimento, will be teaching the circus arts classes.
Venice Theatre also offers private lessons for students who are interested in one-on-one instruction. Private lessons are customized for individuals who want to advance their acting and/or musical theatre skills.
In addition to seasonal classes, Venice Theatre offers a unique Technical Theatre Apprenticeship Program (TTAP). TTAP is a career-track technical training program for students 16 years and older. It is accredited by the Florida Department of Education. A limited number of scholarships are available for qualified applicants.
