ARTISTS ON THE COURTMOVES INTO THE FORMER KATHARINE BUTLER GALLERY It's been a hard secret to keep but it's finally official! Inspired by the concept of keeping Art alive and well at Towles Court and bringing some dynamic new ideas to the community, Artists on the Court is now a reality. A little about me (so that you know I am a real person and not a spammer!)
I’m making this time of my life The Time of My life, focusing on my design work and community activities. My studio is my playroom. A passion for travel inspires my metalwork although it keeps me away from my studio sometimes. Now retirement is a figment of my imagination as I joyously take the leap into a new venture: Artists on the Court at Towles Court.
I work mostly in silver and bimetal, enjoying pushing the envelope with creative techniques using color, texture and dimension. I love the colorplay of gemstones and use them in many of my designs.
In the mode of “giving back” to the world that has given me so many creative opportunities, I volunteer for a non-profit organization, Soul of Somanya (www.soulofsomanya.net). This work sends me to Ghana to work with a group of artisans. Dealing with a different culture and the language barrier makes this challenging but rewarding.
On the same plane, Artists on the Court is now a reality--embryonic but but gathering momentum. This organization at Towles Court supports local artists and the community at large with exhibition and studio space, classes and a venue for unique Art Experiences.
I’m a member of Art Center Manatee, Art Center Sarasota, Morean Art Center St. Petersburg, the Mendocino Art Center, the Florida Society of Goldsmiths, Florida Craftsmen and the Society of American Goldsmiths.
My jewelry will be available in the Gallery at Artists on the Court.
