CAROLINA WREN

Sitting, sprawling, with no particular thought

'Til caught

By a rustling 'neath the window.

A wren, to and fro

Rusty orange breast, and the rest

Warm brown, bright white eye stripe.

Looking so alert, jumping from branch to leaf

No grief

All happy energy.

And me?

Sitting, sprawling, seeing
